Things have come a long way in 30 years since the first commercially successful portable computer the Osborne 1. The Osborne 1 weighed 10.7 kg (23.5 pounds) with 2 5.25" floppy drives, a 5" display, a 4MHz Z80 CPU and 64KB RAM all for roughly $1,800 (£1108) when new.
Other notable portable/laptop/notebook computers since the Osborne 1 are the Macintosh Portable which came out in 1989 with an active matrix colour display (Every other laptop had a passive display, which had slow response times and poor colour in comparison) and a $6,500 (£3990) price tag for having such a good display.
