Marmite Product May Be One For Xmas

With just five full shopping weeks left before Christmas, it is time to think about possible gifts for the gadget devotee. So, let’s consider the Autographer.

An undoubted Marmite product, some will desperately want one, others will simply hate the idea. At £300, this beastie is not cheap, so to put it on your wish list for Santa it would need to float your boat.

So, what is it? It is a five megapixel angle camera which you wear to record your day. It can clip to a pocket, a belt or a bag strap or be worn around the neck with the lanyard supplied.

When switched on, it snaps away when it decides to and creates a photographic summary of what you have been up to, until you turn it off.

It uses a bank of sensors to detect changes in light, motion, colour and temperature, which direction it is facing and how quickly you are moving. It combines that information to figure out the perfect time to take each picture. It has three frequency settings, from 50 to 200 images per hour.

Obviously it would not add much value to a day of housework or an afternoon sunbathing, but aficionados think it gives a refreshingly spontaneous feel to photographs of a sightseeing session, a scenic stroll or a family celebration.

It even uses GPS to record the location of each picture and can cross-refer them to a Bing map, to track a journey.

Mind you, once you fill Autographer’s 8Mb of internal memory you will have 28,000 photos. Friend may run when you offer to show your holiday snaps.
